 Republican candidate Donald Trump declared victory in the election amid cheers from supporters.  He claimed that the American people had given him an unprecedented mandate.  Democratic candidate Kamala Harris' hopes of victory have faded after victories in battleground states North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.  Democratic supporters left the watch party at the prospect of defeat, and Harris said he would not say anything tonight.  Republicans are going to take control of the US Senate, and the House of Representatives is in a tight fight.

 Counting is underway in the United States presidential election.  Currently, Donald Trump is leading in terms of electoral votes, with his total number of votes being 277, while Kamala Harris has 226  Trump and Harris are in a tight race, and millions of voters have cast their ballots to decide who will be their next president.
